Dallas Stars Logo Leaked

The Dallas Stars were scheduled to unveil their new logo and uniforms on June the 4th; however it appears as though the new logos have been leaked via the Stars’ Phone App in their “Wallpaper” section:

Based upon the initial images, it appears as though the Stars have lightened their signature green and dropped the gold accents altogether in favor of silver and adjusted the “Stars” wordmark to a beveled ‘D’ superimposed on a beveled star. An alternate includes the aforementioned D-Star icon in the center of a roundel with “Dallas Stars” circling the logo itself.

In past years, the Stars have gone with a more collegiate-inspired look with a vertically arching “Dallas” above a jersey number on their uniforms. What remains to be seen is what logo will take center stage on the jerseys; however the frontrunner appears to be the D-Star icon. In any event, introducing any form of icon on the uniform will be a welcome change.

While initial reactions to the logos are mixed, I for one really like them. The color scheme is fantastic; the new shade of green really compliments the silver and it’s a unique color scheme amongst the multitudes of red, white and blue teams across all sport platforms. The D-Star keeps a link to the past by remaining italicized, and eliminates the “former North Stars” and “Dallas Hockey Club” feel. The beveling (an overused design element nowadays) of the star gives a sheriff’s badge vibe and only adds to the connection.

My only issue with this set thus far is the roundel – too many teams have this, so it’s not anything special. It’s not a true secondary (if the rumors hold up) and it’s really uninspired and bland compared to the effort put into the D-Star.

We’ll have to wait until June 4th to see how this looks on a uniform, but I think the Stars have something nice going here.

University of Arizona unveils new Football Uniforms

Today the University of Arizona Wildcats unveiled new uniforms for the 2013 Football Season. Where do I start with this uniform set? The gradients on the sleeve?. I can understand if it were one color, but the rainbow sleeves just does not do justice to the uniforms. In fact I say that ASU on the the Sun Devils have more of an effect for the rainbows than the U of A does. I will say that the helmets are a positive. I love the copper helmets, this coming from someone who doesn’t like the Wildcats all that much. I know they will possibly use these against ASU for the Territory Cup on the last game of the season. I have always been a fan of the look for the Wildcats. But the one thing that really throws me off from liking these uniforms are the rainbow sleeves. I will give this a 4 out of 10. If they would have used just one color I would have been fine with it. But the gradients not only on the sleeves, but the numbers is what I really can’t stand. Here are the images.

Toledo Mud Hens have some Star Wars Force behind their uniforms

Yesterday(May 4th, 2013), the Toledo Mud Hens the Detroit Tigers Triple A Affiliate of the International League wore Chewbacca inspired Uniforms. Although this isn’t a Wookie Mistake, the Toledo Mud Hens have done something awesome that the rest of the Minor Leagues should have done. Although I’m sure there will be some other team that will do this next year, or have some kind of Star Trek(yes another franchise) Appreciation Night. But to honor Chewbacca is one of the greatest and weirdest things I have seen in for Star Wars. The other great thing is their t-shirt that was given out. The Mud Hen with a light saber with the Toledo Mud Hens in Star Wars Font. The images are down below. But I will say this should be an every year occasion.

Instagram makes an update

Since being taken over by Facebook back in April of 2012, Instagram has only increased it’s social media presence, rivaling that of Twitter and parent-company Facebook. Additionally, many social media users have began to abandon Facebook moving towards Instagram as the next big thing in social media.

With that said, the folks at Instagram worked with designer Mackey Saturday to create a refreshing take on a 2 year old look (2 yrs isn’t that long, but enough time to date a logo in many cases). Gone are the seemingly extra brushstrokes from the orignal wordmark, replaced by a smoother, cleaner script headlined by a restyled “I” (which I think is a great modification by the way).

What I love about this change is how streamlined the script is, but at the same time, keeps a link to the original logo. Not too much of a change, but just enough to make a significant difference.

Vikings and Dolphins Uni’s leaked with the Jaguars new Uniforms?

Looks like Nike and the NFL has jumped the gun with the Minnesota Vikings and the Miami Dolphins. With what was supposed to be a Draft day Reveal has become a very untimed leak by the league. Above are the new uniforms that were supposed to be hush hush until Thursday.

New Jaguars Uniform and Helmet

Just off the heels of the Press Conference of the Jacksonville Jaguars and instead of just saying what I think, i’m just going to post the pics, they should tell you what they did. I can already tell you that i’m not a fan. From the bi-colored helmet to the uniforms, I think it’s way too busy to be Nikefied. I give it a 4 out of 10. It has too much potential, but instead it looks like Oregons Step Sister. Full Review Coming up in the upcoming days…

Iowa Barnstormers release new Uniforms

Thanks to our friends at ArenaFan.com, the Iowa Barnstormers have released their new uniforms for the 2013 season. Gone are the infamous Gold helmets we used to love and instead we get BFBS(Black for Black Sakes) Helmets. The Home looks like they have pit stains and the away look like Tennessee Titans knockoffs. Black pants for both sets it looks like as well.

I’m not really a fan. I loved their look with the gold helmet. This just looks like someone took inspiration from the NFL, but made it generic. Than you have the home which is just a black pit stain of a uniform. This could have been so much better if they would have just got rid of the pit stain and made it just black and red. I give it a 4 out of 10 for the simple fact that it could have been much more and they just made it too busy, which made it too ugly in my honest opinion.

WrestleMania XXX Logo Revealed

World Wrestling Entertainment has unveiled the logo for WrestleMania XXX which will take place in New Orleans, Louisiana next year. At the Mercedes Benz Superdome.

It features a distinct unique Fleur De Lis on the top with the Roman Numerals of 30. With the standard WrestleMania font. Purple and Gold colors are the primary colors.

I really like this logo. WWE has always come out with great logos for WrestleMania and will continue to do so in the future. I really love how they incorporated the fleur de lis into the concept and the colors really make it pop. However I think they could have added in another color to give it a Mardi Gras kind of feel. I give it a 4 out of 5. Outstanding logo like always.

Golden State Warriors unveil new Alternate

The Golden State Warriors are trying to set a new trend by debuting the newest evolution of the basketball uniform: sleeves. The Warriors introduced a new alternate set consisting of a sleeved, almost compression-like top and Bay Bridge-inspired pinstripe shorts:

Adidas is calling the new uniform design the “adizero NBA short sleeve uniform system”, with Golden State becoming the first team in the modern-era to wear something other than a traditional tank-top style jersey.

The Warriors on-court debut for the new uniforms will take place at their Feb. 22 home game against the San Antonio Spurs. They will also wear them March 8 vs. Houston and March 15 vs. Chicago.

Jacksonville Jaguars unveil redesigned logo

A year into his ownership of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Shad Khan has made some dramatic changes to franchise. On Tuesday, Khan’s version of the franchise unveiled a new brand which matches his vision of what the Jaguars should be: aggressive, proud and bold. Khan remarked how “nothing brings a team more to life than a team logo”.

The new look evokes an aura of fierceness with its more realistic spot pattern, addition of white around the jaw and ear repositioning. The Jaguars appear to have downgraded the teal (which has been a staple of the franchise since their inception back in 1995) to secondary color and are focusing on a primarily gold and black color scheme. How teal is incorporated in the uniforms remain to be seen, as the new uniforms will not be unveiled until April.

Will this new, aggressive cat translate into success on the field? Only time will tell.
